The Future Is Here: "Small is the new big"

Nikon releases the much smaller, newer format and mirrorless dslr camera with features that are equally as good as their bigger successor, if not better. They use different lenses, which means if the traditional DSLR bodies become extinct, the existing fast lenses one may have will no longer be useful. At this point in my career as a photographer, I am totally convinced that fast lenses has to be my next big investment and most of us know that lenses normally have longer life than a digital camera body.

Let's see how it goes.

Having Fun With Recording

Home studio setup has taken the mancave by storm.
This morning, the time when I'm suppose to be working out has been replaced by recording a song. And I don't regret doing it, still feels great afterwards. The effect is so much like exercising, though.
I feel like my facial skin is becoming thicker and the former shy personality has moved out ( I told Mr. "Mahiyain" to go, for there's not much room here left for him.:)

I mean to say this in a very good way. I love music in the same way as visual arts, and for the longest time, that "shyness" has been preventing me to do what I want.

Just few months ago, I have the privilege to collaborate with my good friend and Ate (big sister-as I always call her) Ms. Chiqui Pineda- Azimi, whose influence and inspiring words got me to a point where I feel like being "born-again" as a musician. And I am forever thankful.

For today's post, I'd like to share a song that was written by the great George Canseco, made popular by Mr. Martin Nievera called "Nasaan Ka Man".

Salamat po sa pakikinig. God bless us all!

Family Bonding Moments

November 12, 2011

We had fun last night after watching the Pacquiao-Marquez boxing match. Aside from the traditional Evangelista Family "post-fight karaoke sessions", I introduced the recording booth in the mancave to my musically-inclined family.

And the results will be heard in today's post.:)

Introducing my big sister, Jinkee, singing the Leah Navarro classic "Kailangan Kita", composed by the legendary George Canseco.

And of course, my dad- our biggest influence in music.
His all-time favorite song is the Frank Sinatra classic "My Way".
Funny how this song has become the butt-of-jokes to many, saying that anyone who sings it gets a shot. I mean, gun shot! I guess because "My Way" is the most played, used, over-used (if not abused) song in every karaoke bars in Philippines.
Arguably, my dad sings it like it is his own, which makes him bulletproof.:)
May I present my old man, Nanding Evangelista, singing this enduring classic.:)
